“No matter how frustrated you may feel, there is Always a way out. In every situation that arises, we choose to be powerful or powerless. It may not always feel like it, but it is a choice. And there are consequences for these choices in terms of the results we get, and the subsequent increase or decrease in our power and influence. If we choose powerlessness, it is often because we doubt there is any other option.”
“Self–realization is the knowing; in body, mind, and soul, that we are one with the omnipresence of God; that we do not have to pray that it come to us, that we are not merely near it at all times, but that God’s omnipresence is our omnipresence: that we are just as much a part of Him now as we ever will be. All we have to do is improve our knowing.”
George Carlin’s body died last week. In memory of George, and the sometimes painful truths he spoke of, I post this audio from my favorite Carlin routine; “The Invisible Man”. Press ► to listen.
• Always do whatever’s next.
• By and large, language is a tool for concealing the truth.
• Have you ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac?
• I think people should be allowed to do anything they want. We haven’t tried that for a while. Maybe this time it’ll work.
• I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, “Where’s the self-help section?” She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
• Inside every cynical person, there is a disappointed idealist.
• Most people work just hard enough not to get fired and get paid just enough money not to quit.
• When someone is impatient and says, “I haven’t got all day,” I always wonder, How can that be? How can you not have all day?
Dear friends, I have been enjoying the TransBuddha web page for only a little while now, and yet feel compelled to share the love with my friends. Go have some fun.

A human being is a part of the whole, called by us “Universe”, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest – a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty. Nobody is able to achieve this completely, but the striving for such achievement is in itself a part of the liberation and a foundation for inner security.

Lighten Your Load
“If your are feeling tired and weary, perhaps now would be a good time to lighten your load. There are many burdens your can get rid of that you’ll easily be able to do without.
Start by abandoning all your resentments. Each resentment costs an enormous amount of time and energy, and provides absolutely nothing of value in return.
Next, you can walk away from your anxiety. All the anxiety in the world cannot add a single positive moment to your life.
Pick up the pace by letting go of the need to prove that you’re right. Instead, use the time and energy to more effectively listen and understand.
While you’re at it, go ahead and leave behind your envy, anger, impatience and frustration. After all, what have they ever done for you?
Dropping the burdensome negativity from your life is ridiculously easy once you realize how much it’s all holding you back. Lighten your load, and move quickly to where you truly wish to be.”
Indeed, anything is possible. Anything and everything! Yet it takes wisdom to understand that the potential for all things happening is not equally distributed.
Life has a rhythm; there’s already momentum. The world has needs and expectations as do you, creating some likelihoods that are vastly more predictable and smaller in number (though still infinite) than others. And for those who see this and work within these “likelihoods”, dancing to their own beat within life’s greater rhythm, heaven shall appear at their feet and abundance shall come as easily as breathing. –– The Universe
Bob and Charlotte talk a bit on the interesting times we are experiencing.
We never have enough information to enable us to fully understand the truth of the reality around us. And there is never only one correct perspective about anything.
Knowing this helps me let go of my tendency to label things as good or bad. I suffer least when I can accept reality just as it is. And I benefit most when I open my heart and mind in appreciation.
“If you are pained by external things, it is not they that disturb you, but your own judgment of them. And it is in your power to wipe out that judgment now.” –– Marcus Aurelius ––
“The purpose of life is to be restored back to Love, moment to moment. To fulfill this purpose, the individual must acknowledge that he is 100% responsible for creating his life the way it is. He must come to see that it is his thoughts that create his life the way it is moment to moment. The problems are not people, places and situations but rather the thoughts of them. He must come to appreciate that there is no such thing as ‘out there’. People, places and situations exist only as his thoughts of them.” –– Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len ––
“We are the sum total of our experiences, which is to say that we are burdened by our pasts. When we experience stress or fear in our lives, if we would look carefully, we would find that the cause is actually a memory. It is the emotions which are tied to these memories which affect us now. The subconscious associates an action or person in the present with something that happened in the past. When this occurs, emotions are activated and stress is produced.”
“The main purpose of this process is to discover the Divinity within and learn to ask that in each moment, our errors in thought, word deed or action be cleansed. The process is essentially about freedom, complete freedom from the past.” –– Morrnah Simeona ––
You most likely believe that your experiences have taught you what is real and what is true – at least for you. However, what you may not know is that your beliefs – conscious and unconscious – have determined what you would experience.
Experiences do not determine what you believe. What you first of all believe is what you will experience. It follows, then, that if you wish to experience life in new ways, you need to examine your belief systems.
Change your consciousness and you’ll change your life.
Most people get the importance of present global warming concerns, and to most of us this is old news. However, there are still many who really don’t understand its nature, what it is about, and what the ultimate consequences are, or might be. Instead of really attempting to grasp the reality of this phenomenon, many of these individuals, for some strange reason, talk themselves into believing it’s a political issue. There will no doubt always be some who will turn any controversy, whether it concerns climate, religion, war, economics, defining what life is, or “whatever,” into a political issue. But that is another story.
The only real issue is that humankind can only exist on this planet in a very narrow range of conditions, and the planet is quite capable of altering those conditions in a relatively short time when stressed!
The consequences of not getting this potential crisis, in the event it is real, are too irrevocably horrible to contemplate, and that is why everyone should be paying close attention! If global warming turns out not to be a threat (and most reputable scientists agree it is), the worst we might do is clean up the planet. If it is real, we as a species are toast! One doesn’t have to be a scientist to grasp the ramifications. please read on

“It is the tragedy of the world that no one knows what he doesn't know – and the less a man knows, the more sure he is that he knows everything.”
“You had better live your best and act your best and think your best today; for today is the sure preparation for tomorrow and all the other tomorrows that follow”
Every thought is a prayer that will be answered. Think about that.
It's time to start bringing Christmas Critters with you to leave in the pews. You know, good old–fashioned, inanimate and quiet stuffed critters of all sizes and shapes. To have and to hold till Christmas doth we part. Here's a big picture from a Christmas Critters past.
The new podium has been installed, it’s now stained wood and very, very nice. Sorry about the delay, Jessica, Ray, Pam and I went to
The House of Hong for Dim Sum. Ummmm, Dim Sum.
The new podium has been installed, it’s unpainted wood and very nice. Today Bob talks about “Pain and Suffering”, two things I’ve had extensive experience with.
It’s cool and rainy out today, so it’s a good thing the “Sheelah Castle Memorial” roof is finished. Bob talks about grievance and happiness and in so doing mentions the Prayer for Humanity. Peter sang for us, accompanied by Terri on the piano. By special request, today’s music has been tracked out and I am posting it along with the meditation and service.

I recently made a CD from an old Unity cassette for a friend. One of Bob’s best from June 29th, 2003 he calls "Excuse-itis".
If you have a favorite service on tape that you would like me to post bring it to church.
“…the only time you ever have in which to learn anything or see anything or feel anything or express any feeling or emotion, or respond to an event, or grow, or heal, is this moment, because this is the only moment any of us ever gets. You’re only here now; you’re only alive in this moment.” –– Jon Kabat–Zinn
